OTS Amiel BaKehila returns to North America for its Second Southern Delegation

Over the coming week, OTS Amiel BaKehila’s second delegation will visit New Orleans, Cherry Hill and Charleston, focusing on the topic of “Israel Responding to Crisis around the World.”

The delegation includes Community Educator Rabbi Aaron Goldscheider and Paramedic and International Rescue Coordinator Dov Meisel of International Hatzalah. Over their busy visit they will speak to a variety of groups and organizations, connecting with a diverse range of people from each of the three communities.

New Orleans, LA
The visit kicks off in New Orleans, when Dov Maisel speaks at a JNOLA Happy Hour co-sponsored by the New Orleans Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council and Jewish Endowment Foundation. Dov will present what to expect and how to prepare for an imminent threat, as well as discuss Israel’s role in emergencies.

The delegation will visit both the Jewish Community Day School of New Orleans as well as the Torah Academy of New Orleans where Dov will talk about “Superheroes” and Rabbi Goldscheider will give a pre-Rosh Hashanah talk at the Gertler Law firm.

Dov Maisel will also speak at a Community Emergency Preparedness event at the New Orleans Jewish Community Center.

From New Orleans, it’s on to Cherry Hill!

In Cherry Hill, the delegation will meet with a group of students from the Politz Hebrew Academy and later meet with a group of elementary school children at the Katz JCC Just4Kids after school program.

Over Shabbat the delegation will offer a number of programs at Congregation Sons of Israel including a Scholar in Residence Pre-Selichot Shabbaton as well as a Pre-Selichot Program featuring Dov Maisel on “Israel Responding to Disasters around the Globe.”

Charleston, SC
On Sunday, the delegation travels to Charleston, South Carolina  for the last leg of our journey. There they will meet with a group on the Sea Islands as well as with students at the Citadel Military College. Dov Maisel will present at a Community Based Emergency Response with the CHS County Rescue Squad, co-sponsored with CJF’s Israel and Overseas Committee and Jewish Community Security Task Force, and Rabbi Goldscheider will give a talk on “Coping With Loss: Finding Comfort from Tradition” sponsored by Synagogue Emanu-El Sisterhood.

They will conclude the busy visit with a final stop and a presentation from Dov Maisel at the Addlestone Hebrew Academy.
